RFID coil antenna

Basically I am motivated to replace the antenna on this RFID reader. The reader is really cheap, and fits my porpoise, its recognized as a USB keyboard.

My Idea is to build a new antenna that can be fitted into a PVC tube and have a usb "reading rod". Basically I want to make a new coil with copper cable which area is a rectangle instead of a square.

Hackaday has provided me with some information about this, but nothing useful about antenna modding.

I know antenna shapes and geometry are dependent on: Frequency (125 Khz in this case) and range of reading (of the tags) and number of turns. Of course many other items, but they are purely derivative from the two I mentioned first.

A 10cm coil allows for a larger field pattern and slightly larger read ranges over our 49mm antennas. especially when larger tags are being read.
This coil was created for our RFIDLOG series of rfid data loggers. Its large 16cm diameter allows for greater read range than a smaller antenna will allow.
Its also suitable for use with our RFIDRW-E series of readers with only
a slight addition to the tuning capacitor.
coil allows for a larger field pattern and longer read ranges. When connected to out RFIDRW-E-232E enhanced reader this antenna allows typical read ranges of 27cm for a 32mm FDXB disc tag.
RFID reader anntena coil, the actual read range for  reader is about 4cm. I plan to remove the original anntena coil and replace with another anntena coil to improve the reading range. so, what type of material i needed to build the antenna coil? for example copper? is that correct? how many turn for the anntena coil? how many diameter for the anntena coil

EM4124 can be a certified EPCTM Class-1 Generation-2 (Gen2) IC and compliant with ISO/IEC 18000-6:2010 Type C. Each chip is done using a 64-bit Unique Identifier to be sure full traceability.

The EM4124 has 176 pieces of non-volatile memory (16 bit PC Word, 96 bit EPC Code, 32 bit Kill Password and 32 bit Access Password), enabling the support of ISO or EPC data structures. Each chip is delivered which has a 96-bit EPC encoding with pre-encoded support for Multi-vendor Chip-based Serialization (MCS).

EM4124 achieves a normal read sensitivity of -19 dBm at the chip level, which translates into an average -21 dBm sensitivity in the tag level to get a dipole-like antenna with 2 dBi gain (25us TARI, 250 kHz BLF).
RFID inlays are composed of an IC (Integrated Circuit, Chip) and a Dipole antenna.  To attach the antenna to the IC we commonly use a strap.
Antennas can be made of silver, aluminum or copper, with each material producing very specific read and write characteristics because of the different chemical properties.  While there are some more exotic materials sometimes used for antennas they are considerably more expensive to produce and very vertical application specific. Generally a copper antenna is slightly more expensive that aluminum or silver but is more conductive and usually provides a longer distance read capability.

Inlays come on rolls ready to package/ecapsulate into finished tags.  Each roll contains between 5,000 and 20,000 inlays and the automated equipment to make a tag must be set up for each roll type so a production run of 5,000 tags can easily be a single roll or a 1/4 of a roll.  Most converters operate JIT facilities meaning that stock or inventory is not kept since there are so many varieties of inlays that can be used to produce a single tag.

Just as there is a very wide variety of IC's for inlays, there is also a very wide variety of antennas ranging from very small - Dot, Button, Paperclips through DogBone, Hammer, Crab, Radar, Satillite, Squiggle, Mini Squiggle, Torpedo, Xcaliber, Web and Frog sizes - each inlay usually has a specific name to identify it.
